Anne Ciarlone will direct and Jared Sigler and Ben Garrett will star in the period piece drama.
NEW YORK (Aug. 12) — The director and cast have been
announced for Eugene Grygo’s play “Graduation,”
which will be performed as part of the Thespis NY Summerfest theater festival in early September.
Anne
Ciarlone will serve as the director and Jared Sigler and Ben Garrett
will take on the roles of Lucas and Aaron respectively in this two-hander, set
in 1983. It’s the story about two young men sorting out their future after
college during the Reagan era when changes that are underway threaten their
dream of a life together. Author Grygo is serving as the producer.
Ciarlone is a New York City-based director, producer,
and administrator. In 2016, she co-founded The Pantry Reading Lab, which
annually produces four reading labs that feature the work of emerging
playwrights. In the 2016 inaugural season, Ciarlone directed a one-night-only
benefit performance of “Ruby Rae Spiegel’s Dry Land,” which benefited Planned
Parenthood Federation of America. Ciarlone is currently the producing and
development associate at the Transport Group Theatre Company.
Actor Garrett’s credits include: Off-Broadway: “Gods
and Kings” (Other Mirror Theatre); “Far from Canterbury” (SOHO Playhouse); and “Songs
for a New World” (York Theatre Co.). His regional credits include: “Altar Boyz,”
“Forever Plaid.” and “The Andrews Brothers.” Garrett was also featured aboard
Disney Cruise Lines and can be seen in commercials for Bank of America, Optimum
Internet, and Steel Series gaming.
A graduate of Marymount Manhattan College, Sigler’s recent
credits include: “The Wedding Singer” (Robbie) and “Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah”
(Barry) at The Theater Barn; “Gen Y” (Oberon) (American Repertory Theatre); “The
Spotted Man” (Group IV); “Three Sisters,” “Footloose,” “Stage Door,” “The
Arsonists,” “Oh, The Humanity” (MMC); and “Little Shop of Horrors” (MATC). His film
credits include “Margo Fritz and the Infinite Blaze” (a web series); “Enlightenment”
(Sparrow Three-Minute Film Festival); and “Saturday.”
A 10-minute play, “Graduation” is part of a night of
short theater pieces featured as part of the Thespis NY Summerfest theater
festival. There will be three performances: Sept. 7 @ 6:15pm; Sept. 8 @ 6:15pm;
and Sept. 10 @ 8:30pm at the Hudson Guild Theatre, 441 W. 26th St., New York,
NY 10001.
