THE EVENT : My play “Graduation” is part of a night of new short plays presented via the Thespis Summerfest 2017 Festival. SYNOPSIS : Hello Friends! Please come to see “Graduation,” my play about a young journalist and his male roommate, a political activist, in 1983 who are sorting out their future together after college. However, their dream is threatened when one of them wants to become an impostor to advance his career. As we face another backlash against queer communities, we can learn from a look back at the 1980’s? CAST : Directed by Anne Ciarlone, this production stars Jared Sigler and Ben Garrett. Director, Cast Announced for “Graduation” in Summerfest Anne Ciarlone Ben Garrett Jared Sigler Anne Ciarlone will direct and Jared Sigler and Ben Garrett will star in the period piece drama. NEW YORK (Aug. 12) — The director and cast have been announced for Eugene Grygo ’s play “Graduation,” which will be performed as part of the Thespis NY Summerfest theater festival in early September. Anne Ciarlone will serve as the director and Jared Sigler and Ben Garrett will take on the roles of Lucas and Aaron respectively in this two-hander, set in 1983. It’s the story about two young men sorting out their future after college during the Reagan era when changes that are underway threaten their dream of a life together. Author Grygo is serving as the producer. Ciarlone is a New York City-based director, producer, and administrator.
